Information about the Webmail pilot project

Note: The following information pertains solely to the pilot project for the new Webmail interface that UITS is developing. For information about the current (i.e., production) Indiana University Webmail interface, see Features of IU Webmail.

On this page:

Background

UITS is testing a new version of the Webmail interface for Cyrus email accounts, featuring several improvements over the existing Webmail interface. As part of this testing, UITS has initiated a pilot project allowing a limited number of users to sign up and use the new interface. UITS is no longer accepting participants for the pilot.

Accessing the pilot interface

If you're part of the pilot, access the test interface at:

https://webmail-beta.iu.edu/

Log in using your Network ID username and passphrase.

If you're using an incompatible browser, you'll see the following error message:

"The IU Webmail pilot is currently unavailable for use with this web browser. In order to log into the Webmail pilot, you'll need to use Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or later, or Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later. The free Mozilla Firefox web browser can be downloaded from IUware Online."

Features and limitations

Because the test interface is still under development (i.e., a beta version), changes may happen frequently, and some features will not be available at the beginning of the pilot. For more information, see Webmail pilot: New features and known limitations.

Providing feedback

To send feedback about the interface, log in and click the pencil icon at the top. Then, fill out the resulting form, and click Submit feedback.

Getting help

Help documentation for the beta version is available from within the application; click Help to view the available options. Documentation in the Indiana University Knowledge Base will be forthcoming. Also, you can get help by contacting your campus Support Center, however please make it clear that your question is regarding the pilot and the test interface (see How do I contact my campus Support Center, and what are the hours and options for help?).

Leaving the pilot

If you decide that you no longer want to test the new interface, simply log in as normal to the current Webmail interface.
