Using Windows XP, how do I change the screen resolution?

To change the screen resolution on a computer running Windows XP, follow these steps:

  1. From the Start menu, select either Control Panel, or Settings and then Control Panel.

  2. Double-click Display.

  3. On the Settings tab, under "Screen resolution", use the slider to change the resolution setting.

  4. Click Apply.

  5. After the screen resolution changes, you'll have 15 seconds to confirm the change. Click Yes to confirm, or No to revert to the previous resolution setting.

Note: To access additional resolution settings, from the Settings tab, click Advanced. On the Adapter tab, click List All Modes, and then select a resolution from the scrolling list. Click OK, and then Apply to apply the change.
