What is Firefox Password Manager, and how can I remove passwords I've saved?

In Firefox, the Password Manager stores names and passwords on your hard drive and enters them automatically when you visit certain sites. This can be helpful if you don't want to enter your username and password every time you visit web sites that require you to log in. However, for security reasons, you may prefer to enter this information yourself rather than save it on your hard drive. If so, when Firefox asks if you want it to remember your password, click Never for This Site. To postpone the decision, click Not Now, and Firefox will prompt you the next time you visit the site.

To remove saved passwords in Firefox 2.x and 3.x, follow the appropriate steps below.

Windows

  1. In Firefox, from the Tools menu, select Options... .

  2. Click the Security icon near the top of the window.

  3. Click Saved Passwords... .

  4. To delete all your saved passwords, click Remove All.

To view your saved passwords so that you can choose which ones you'd like to delete, click Show Passwords. Highlight the passwords you'd like to delete and click Remove.

  5. When you're finished, click Close.

  6. To keep Firefox from storing any more passwords, uncheck Remember passwords for sites.

  7. To close the Options dialog box, click OK.

Mac OS X

  1. In Firefox, from the Firefox menu, choose Preferences... .

  2. Click the Security icon near the top of the window.

  3. Click Saved Passwords... .

  4. To delete all saved passwords, click Remove All.
