How can I use UMS from off campus?

You can access your Unified Messaging Service (UMS) messages from any location, on or off campus, through either of the following methods:

  • By telephone: Access your voice mail and email messages (if using Exchange) by phone by calling the UMS telephone number, similar to traditional voice mail. For more information, see What are the telephone numbers for UMS?

Enter your full 10-digit mailbox number (i.e., 812-85X-XXXX or 317-27X-XXXX), not just the last 5 digits.

  • By email: You can access your voice mail messages just as you do your email, via your regular email client.

If you are using Exchange, you can also access your voice messages as .wav files through Outlook Web Access (OWA) at:

    https://www.exchange.iu.edu/

To change your personal settings for UMS, visit:

If you have questions about your UMS account on an office phone, contact a Telecommunications Consultant at 812-856-2287 (IUB) or 317-274-3004 (IUPUI). Campus housing residents, contact Campus Housing Telephone Services at 812-855-4455. (This call is free from any campus phone at IUB or IUPUI by dialing 5-4455.) To report trouble with UMS, call 812-855-2111 (IUB) or 317-274-3004 (IUPUI).
