In Microsoft Word for Mac OS X, how can I control page numbering?
Microsoft Word relies on sections for its use of page numbering. If you want page numbering to begin after the title page, follow the steps below:
- Place the cursor at the top of page two, and from the
Insertmenu, selectBreak, and thenSection Break (Next Page).
- Now place your cursor on page one. From the
Insertmenu, choosePage Numbers....
- In the dialog box that appears, make sure that the box next to
Show Number on First Pageis not checked. Then clickOK.
- With the cursor on page two, from the
Insertmenu, choosePage Numbers....
- In the dialog box that appears, in the "Alignment" and "Position"
sections, choose the location where the page number will appear on the
document. Make sure that the box next to
Show Number on First Pageis checked.
- Click the
Format...button.
- In the dialog box that appears, go to the "Page Numbering"
section, click
Start at:, and type1(the number 1) in the field. ClickOKtwice. Your document is ready to print.
