At IU, what is a University ID, and how do I find out what mine is?

Note: You can use your University ID (UID) to create your Indiana University computing accounts. See How do I get my first computing accounts at IU?

Students

At IU, all admitted students receive a 10-digit University ID (UID). The Office of Admissions issues your UID in an Admit Letter via postal mail. If you know your username and passphrase, you can also view your UID online:

  1. Log into OneStart. Select the Services tab, and then choose the Student Self-Service section on the left.

  2. In the "Services & Information" area, click Lookup my University ID Number. Your UID will be listed as "ID: 000xxxxxxx".

If you are unable to access OneStart, contact the appropriate information provider to obtain your UID:

University employees

For employees, the UID can also be called the Employee ID. You can find this number, labelled "Employee ID", on the top left of your pay advice; see Where can I find my IU pay advice and W-2 form online?

You can also contact your Human Resources department to obtain your UID. See How do I contact the human resources office at each IU campus?
