In the IUIE, why do I get a blank screen when using Adobe Acrobat (PDF) output in Internet Explorer 5.5?
The blank screen problem in the IUIE with Adobe Acrobat (i.e., PDF) output in Internet Explorer 5.5 is a known issue specific to this version of Internet Explorer. Netscape is not affected. Often before you get the blank screen, you will see the Adobe Acrobat startup screen flash by; this is just another symptom of the problem. You can resolve the problem by changing a setting within Adobe Reader:
- If you currently have it open, close Internet Explorer.
- Start Adobe Reader. (If you are using a version of Reader older than
6.0, it may be called Acrobat Reader.)
- For Adobe Reader 6.0, from the
Editmenu, choosePreferences..., and thenInternet. For Acrobat Reader 5.1, from theEditmenu, selectPreferences..., and thenOptions. For Acrobat Reader 5.0, from theEditmenu, selectPreferences..., and thenGeneral. For Acrobat Reader 4.x, from theFilemenu, choosePreferences..., and thenGeneral.
- Deselect
Display PDF in Browser(Acrobat Reader 5.x or Adobe Reader 6.0) orWeb Browser Integration(Acrobat Reader 4.x).
- Click
OK, and then close Adobe Reader.
- Restart Internet Explorer.
The next time you run a report object in
Internet Explorer with Adobe Acrobat selected as the output format, a
dialog box will prompt you to specify what to do with the file. If you
select Open this file from its current location, Internet Explorer
will open the output in Adobe Reader. If you select Save this file to
disk, Internet Explorer will save the output to your hard disk, from
which you can open it later.
