In Falcon, why do I receive the error message "Your inactive session has timed out, client will terminate"?
Note: A project is underway to replace Falcon with a service desk system from Numara Software called Footprints, scheduled to be in full production in early summer 2009. For more information, see the Service desk implementation project page.
In Falcon, session inactivity is limited to 30
minutes. After 30 minutes, if you have not clicked a function that
makes a call to the server (e.g., Save or Refresh),
Falcon will automatically log you out and display the
following error message:
"Your inactive session has timed out, client will terminate"
If you do not save a contact or incident as you are working on it, your work will be lost when your session terminates. To save your work so that it's not lost should Falcon log you out, follow the appropriate steps below:
-
Contacts: Click
Qopen, which will save contacts in open-idle status.
-
Incidents: Click the
Savebutton.
A web interface is available at:
https://falcon.iu.edu/fwlThis interface does not provide full functionality, such as escalation and reassignment. However, since Falcon has a maximum of 90 licenses available at one time, during busy times, it's a good alternative to using the client to look up contacts and incidents.
