At IU, in Outlook 2000, how do I read my Cyrus mail using IMAP?
To retrieve your email in Outlook 2000 using the IMAP protocol, you must run Outlook 2000 in Internet Mail Only mode, as the Corporate or Workgroup mode does not support IMAP.
If you need to keep Outlook 2000 in Corporate or Workgroup mode to access your Exchange account, and you also need to access an IMAP account, you can either upgrade to Outlook 2002 or 2003, which can support both an IMAP account and an Exchange account simultaneously, or use a separate mail client for your IMAP mail, such as Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger.
Using the Internet Connection Wizard
Microsoft Outlook 2000 uses the Internet Connection Wizard to help you configure your email accounts. If you've never used Outlook 2000 for email, the Internet Connection Wizard should start the first time you launch Outlook. In this case you may skip to step 3 below. If you've already configured your account and wish to reconfigure or add another account (or if the Internet Connection Wizard fails to start), you will need to manually start the Internet Connection Wizard as follows:
- From the
Toolsmenu, selectAccounts....
- Click
Add, and then selectMail...to start the Internet Connection Wizard.
- You will first be prompted for your "Display name". Enter your
full name, and then click

Internet?", select an option as follows:

Don't save items to the Local Folder structure unless you want them saved only to the computer you are using at that time. Once you save an item to the Local Folder structure, the item is not accessible from the server or from other computers.
