In Eudora for Mac OS or Mac OS X, how do I switch my Dominant email account from POP to IMAP?
This document applies only to Eudora 5.1 and later. Earlier releases of Eudora do not support Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), while versions prior to 4.3 do not support IMAP.
For important information about accessing your Indiana University email account using Eudora for Mac OS or Mac OS X, see What are the requirements for using Eudora for Mac OS X to read my IU mail?
To switch your Eudora client from POP to IMAP with SSL, adjust your settings as follows:
- Start Eudora. From the
Specialmenu, selectSettings....
- In the
Settingswindow, in the left column, click the icon forChecking Mail. In the "Account/Server Information" area, click the radio button next toIMAP.
- In the left column, click the icon for
SSL. Next to "SSL for IMAP:", selectRequired (Alternate Port).
- Verify your other preferences, and when you are satisfied, click
OK.
- Eudora should try to log into your mail server. Once you have
logged into the server, under the
Mailboxmenu, verify that you have a new list of folders under the<<Dominant>>account.
Any mail that you previously accessed using POP will be located in the
In mail folder, which should be the first item in the
Mailbox menu.
