In Mac OS X Mail, how do I enable SSL on an existing mail account?
To enable Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) in Mac OS X Mail, follow these instructions:
- From the
Mailmenu, selectPreferences....
- Highlight the mail account you wish to modify. Then, in OS X
10.3.x, skip to the next step; in OS X 10.2.x and earlier, click
the
Editbutton.
- Click the
Advancedtab (OS X 10.2.x and later) or theAccount Optionstab (OS X 10.1.x and earlier).
- Place a checkmark beside
Use SSL. In 10.3.x, close the Mail preferences window, and when prompted, clickSaveto save your changes. In 10.2.x and earlier, clickOKto save your changes and then close the Mail preferences window.
The next time you check mail with this account, you will be using SSL.
