In Netscape Messenger 4.77 and 6.2, how do I use SSL on an existing IMAP account?

To use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) with an existing IMAP account in Netscape Messenger, follow the instructions below:

Netscape 6.2

1. From the Tasks menu, select Mail & Newsgroups.
   
   
2. From the Edit menu, select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings... .
   
   
3. Expand the mail account that needs to use SSL, and then click Server Settings.
   
   
4. Under "Server Settings", check Use secure connection (SSL). Click OK.

SSL will now be used each time you access your IMAP account with Messenger.

Messenger 4.77

1. In Messenger, from the Edit menu, select Preferences... .
   
   
2. Expand Mail and Newsgroups and select Mail Servers.
   
   
3. Highlight the mail account that needs to use SSL and click Edit.
   
   
4. Click the IMAP tab and select Use secure connection (SSL).
   
   
5. Click OK, and then OK again.

SSL will now be used each time you access your IMAP account with Messenger.
