In Netscape Messenger 4.77 and 6.2, how do I use SSL on an existing IMAP account?
To use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) with an existing IMAP account in Netscape Messenger, follow the instructions below:
Netscape 6.2
- From the
Tasksmenu, selectMail & Newsgroups.
- From the
Editmenu, selectMail & Newsgroups Account Settings....
- Expand the mail account that needs to use SSL, and then click
Server Settings.
- Under "Server Settings", check
Use secure connection (SSL). ClickOK.
SSL will now be used each time you access your IMAP account with Messenger.
Messenger 4.77
- In Messenger, from the
Editmenu, selectPreferences....
- Expand
Mail and Newsgroupsand selectMail Servers.
- Highlight the mail account that needs to use SSL and click
Edit.
- Click the
IMAPtab and selectUse secure connection (SSL).
- Click
OK, and thenOKagain.
SSL will now be used each time you access your IMAP account with Messenger.
