In Mac OS X Mail, how do I save sent and draft messages on my IMAP server?
Note: This document assumes you have already configured Mac OS X Mail. For information, see At IU, how do I configure Mac OS X Mail to read my mail through IMAP? You must also have used Mac OS X Mail to access your IMAP mail account at least once.
Mac OS X 10.2.x and later
- In the OS X Mail folder list, click the folder you'd like to use
for your saved mail or drafts folder.
- From the
Mailboxmenu, chooseUse Selected Mailbox For, and then from the submenu, select the appropriate assignment.
Mac OS X 10.1.x
- In OS X Mail, from the
Mailmenu, selectPreferences....
- In the
Mail Preferenceswindow, clickComposing.
- In the pull-down menus next to "Save unsent mail in:" and "Save sent mail in:", select the folders where you want to save draft and sent messages, respectively.
After you've made this change, messages you send and/or save as drafts will be stored on the IMAP server rather than your own computer.
