In Mac OS X, how do I set up an FTP server?
Mac OS X has an FTP server built in. To activate it, follow these instructions:
- From the Apple menu, select
System Preferences....
- In System Preferences, from the
Viewmenu, selectSharing.
- Check the
FTP Access(OS X 10.2.x and later) orAllow FTP Access(OS X 10.1.x and earlier) checkbox.
Once you have done this, all users with an account on your computer will be able to connect to it via FTP using their usernames and passwords. You must have an Internet connection before you can use your computer as an FTP server, however.
