What is IU Webmail?
Note: This information pertains solely to the current (i.e., production) Webmail interface for Cyrus email accounts at Indiana University. UITS is testing a new version of the Webmail interface; see Information about the Webmail pilot project.
IU Webmail is a web-based email system at Indiana University, allowing access to accounts on the Cyrus mail system. It provides basic email service through a simple web interface, allowing you to read mail easily from anywhere in the world without having to reconfigure a browser or mail client software, as well as to send and open attachments easily from your desktop.Your mail on the Cyrus mail system resides on an IMAP server, and IU Webmail connects to the server to retrieve your mail. For more information, see What is Cyrus mail? If you have an account on the Cyrus mail system, you can log into IU Webmail to access your mail at:
https://webmail.iu.edu/In the "Username" and "Passphrase" fields, enter your IU Network ID username and passphrase.
Webmail provides basic email functionality; see Features of IU Webmail. If you require more sophisticated functionality, consider using a desktop email client to access your mail. For more information, see Reading your Cyrus mail using a desktop client.
To learn more about IU Webmail, see the IU Webmail tutorial provided by IT Training & Education at IU.
