ARCHIVED: How do I install Windows 2000 on my PC without using boot floppies?

If you wish to install Windows 2000 Professional or Server Family directly from CD-ROM without using the setup floppies, your computer must have a bootable CD-ROM drive.

Note: For the instructions below to work, both the CD-ROM drive and the motherboard must support booting from CD. Also, your BIOS must be set to have CD-ROM first in the boot sequence.

To install Windows 2000 from CD-ROM, insert the Windows 2000 CD into the CD-ROM drive and start your computer. After the computer starts, a minimal version of Windows 2000 is copied into memory. This version of Windows 2000 starts the Setup program.
