In Internet Explorer for Windows, how do I disable Content Advisor?

In Internet Explorer, Content Advisor prevents viewing of web sites with objectionable content. If you have enabled Content Advisor and wish to disable it, follow the appropriate steps below.

Internet Explorer 5.x and later

  1. In Internet Explorer, from the Tools menu, select Internet Options... .

  2. Select the Content tab.

  3. Under "Content Advisor", click Disable.

  4. Enter the Content Advisor password. Internet Explorer 5 and later will not let you modify Content Advisor without a password, so you must know the password in order to disable it. Click OK.

Internet Explorer 4.x

  1. In Internet Explorer 4, from the View menu, select Internet Options.

  2. Select the Content tab.

  3. Under "Content Advisor", click Settings.

  4. Enter the password for Content Advisor, and then click OK. If you can't remember the password, leave the password field blank. If no password was set, you will be allowed to change the settings if you leave the password field blank. If you have forgotten the password, see With Internet Explorer for Windows, how can I reset my forgotten Content Advisor password?

  5. Click Disable Ratings.

  6. Type the password, or leave the field blank if there is no password. Click OK, and then OK again.
