ARCHIVED: How can I find out what kind of CD-ROM drive I have?
There are several ways you can find out what kind of CD-ROM drive you have:
- Check the documentation that came with your computer.
Manufacturers usually ship manuals with their computers, and these
should contain documentation for your CD-ROM drive.
- Check the itemized receipt that you received when you purchased
your computer. This receipt should contain a list of all the types of
hardware that came with your computer.
- Call your vendor to find out exactly what kind of CD-ROM drive was
put on your computer. This should be a free service.
- Check your computer manufacturer's web site. The site should
contain information about identifying the hardware that came with your
computer.
- Open the case on your computer and look at the stickers on the CD-ROM drive.
