What is IRIX?
IRIX is a Unix implementation by Silicon Graphics. Though it incorporates its own extensions, IRIX is strongly System V-based and compliant to most Unix standards. For more information, consult SGI's IRIX page at:
http://www.sgi.com/developers/technology/irix/You can also consult the newsgroups in the
comp.sys.sgi.* hierarchy.
Note: Indiana University no longer has a support contract with SGI.
Note: UITS discontinued IRIX support in June 2003.
At Indiana University, to get support for personal or departmental Linux or Unix systems, see At IU, how do I get support for Linux or Unix?
