At IU, how do I change information displayed in the online IU Address Book and the Global Address List?

On this page:

Introduction

At Indiana University, the information displayed in the online IU Address Book and the Global Address List (GAL) is provided by several university departments, and maintained and cross-checked by several UITS systems. Therefore, the specific instructions for changing information in the IU Address Book and the GAL can vary depending on what you want to change. Additionally, certain fields in the online IU Address Book are controlled by particular offices within the university; only those offices can change them.

Students, faculty, and staff

If you are a student, you can update your address or phone number using Self-Service in OneStart; see At IU, how can students or applicants review or change personal information?

If you are faculty or staff, or want to make changes not available through Self-Service, you can contact your information provider:

Faculty and staff should also fill out and submit the correct Human Resources form:

  1. Go to OneStart: https://onestart.iu.edu/
  2. Click the Services tab. Click the Administrative Systems subtab on the left, and then click HRMS.

  3. Under "HRMS Related Links", click Personal Profile Forms.

  4. Click Change Form, Personal Data. This will open the form as a PDF file.

  5. Print the form, fill it out, and submit it to your information provider.

Note: Your updated information should appear in the IU Address Book and GAL within a minimum of 24 hours and a maximum of a week. If you don't see your updated information after a week, contact your information provider.

Group or departmental accounts

To change the display information for your group or departmental account, which will have no entry in the IU Address Book, contact account administration:

  • At IU Bloomington, IU East, IU Northwest, and IU South Bend, email  valid@indiana.edu .

  • At IUPUI, IUPU Columbus, IU Kokomo, and IU Southeast, email  actadmin@iupui.edu .

Note: The UITS services in this document may not be available to users on the Fort Wayne campus. Many computing services at IPFW are administered locally, by IPFW Information Technology Services (ITS). For more information, see the ITS web site.
