What is QuickTime?
QuickTime is a multimedia architecture developed by Apple Computer for Mac OS, Mac OS X, Windows, and other platforms. It allows your computer to work with real-time movies, sounds, and high-quality compressed images.
QuickTime applications include the following:

QuickTime Player for playing, interacting with,
or viewing video, audio, virtual reality (VR), or graphics files

QuickTime Pro for high-end media authoring

QuickTime Streaming Server and Darwin Streaming
Server for delivering media either in real time or on demand
over the Internet with no per-stream license fee
- QuickTime Broadcaster which allows average users to produce a live broadcast event
