Where can I get help for LISTSERV?

Numerous sources for help using LISTSERV mailing lists are available.

List owners

If you are a subscriber, first contact the owner of the list in question, through an address similar to this:

Replace listname with the name of the list, and listservhost.domain with the hostname of the system from which the list is administered.

LISTSERV support

If you are a list owner, contact LISTSERV support at your list's site.

CataList

L-Soft maintains CataList, a catalog of LISTSERV lists. From this web page, you can browse through descriptions of more than 50,000 lists, and search for lists by area of interest, host site, host country, or number of subscribers.

Before starting a new LISTSERV list, it's always a good idea to check CataList to see if a list for your topic already exists and make sure the name you have in mind is not already in use.

Mailing lists

Two LISTSERV mailing lists are available: LSTOWN-L is for LISTSERV list owners, and LSTSRV-L is for LISTSERV list users. For information about subscribing to either of these lists, see Are there any mailing lists about LISTSERV?

You can retrieve online documentation by sending one of the following commands in the body (not the subject line) of an email message to a LISTSERV server (for example, listserv@listserv.net):
