In LISTSERV, what information do new subscribers receive?
New LISTSERV subscribers typically receive several informational pieces of email. The most common are a standard note containing LISTSERV information, an optional welcome message, and the LISTSERV Usage Guidelines.
The standard LISTSERV information message usually contains the following:
- Notification that the subscriber has been added to the
list
- Information about LISTSERV
- Specifics about the given list
- Instructions for how to unsubscribe from the list
The welcome message is optional. If the list owner has created a welcome message, then LISTSERV can send new subscribers a copy of that message, as well as its own administrative notice. The welcome message may contain information about the list charter and rules of etiquette, or it may simply be a message welcoming the user to the list.
