In FTP, how do I regain the Username: prompt?

If you are at an ftp> prompt but not already connected to a host, enter the command:

Replace host_name with the name of the computer to which you wish to connect.

While authenticating to a host, if you accidentally press Enter at the Username: prompt, enter:

You will then be prompted for your username.
